Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher caused controversy last night when he claimed that Raphaal Varane wasn't 'good enough' for a team like Real Madrid.
'If I were Zinedine Zidane, I would be looking to off-load him as soon as possible.'
'It is clear that he is not happy at the Santiago Bernabeu and that he is not living up to the standards of the club. There are also rumours floating around that Juventus are willing to pay €37 million for him.'
'If I were Zinedine Zidane, I'd take the €37 million and drive him to the airport.'
The former Liverpool defender also went on to say that a team like Real Madrid should not be giving into ridiculous contract demands.
'Let him go to Juventus. Let him be Massimiliano Allegri's problem. There's no way that I'd let him hold the club to ransom.'
The statements from Carragher come on the back of reports that the French centre back had walked out of contract negotiations with the club.
