Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher caused controversy last night when he claimed that Joe Allen wasn't 'good enough' for a team like Stoke City.
'If I were Mark Hughes, I would be looking to off-load him as soon as possible.'
'It is clear that he is not happy at the Britannia Stadium and that he is not living up to the standards of the club. There are also rumours floating around that West Brom are willing to pay €17 million for him.'
'If I were Mark Hughes, I'd take the €17 million and drive him to the airport.'
The former Liverpool defender also went on to say that a team like Stoke City should not be giving into ridiculous contract demands.
'Let him go to West Brom. Let him be Tony Pulis's problem. There's no way that I'd let him hold the club to ransom.'
The statements from Carragher come on the back of reports that the former Liverpool player had walked out of contract negotiations with the club.
