Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher caused controversy last night when he claimed that Gervinho wasn't 'good enough' for a team like A.S. Roma.
'If I were Luciano Spalletti, I would be looking to off-load him as soon as possible.'
'It is clear that he is not happy at the Stadio Olimpico and that he is not living up to the standards of the club. There are also rumours floating around that Middlesbrough are willing to pay €22 million for him.'
'If I were Luciano Spalletti, I'd take the €22 million and drive him to the airport.'
The former Liverpool defender also went on to say that a team like A.S. Roma should not be giving into ridiculous contract demands.
'Let him go to Middlesbrough. Let him be Aitor Karanka's problem. There's no way that I'd let him hold the club to ransom.'
The statements from Carragher come on the back of reports that the former Arsenal player had walked out of contract negotiations with the club.
