Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher caused controversy last night when he claimed that Remy Cabella wasn't 'good enough' for a team like Newcastle.
'If I were Rafael Benitez, I would be looking to off-load him as soon as possible.'
'It is clear that he is not happy at St James' Park and that he is not living up to the standards of the club. There are also rumours floating around that Southampton are willing to pay €21 million for him.'
'If I were Rafael Benitez, I'd take the €21 million and drive him to the airport.'
The former Liverpool defender also went on to say that a team like Newcastle should not be giving into ridiculous contract demands.
'Let him go to Southampton. Let him be Claude Puel's problem. There's no way that I'd let him hold the club to ransom.'
The statements from Carragher come on the back of reports that the Newcastle winger had walked out of contract negotiations with the club.
