Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher caused controversy last night when he claimed that Luka Modric wasn't 'good enough' for a team like Real Madrid.
'If I were Zinedine Zidane, I would be looking to off-load him as soon as possible.'
'It is clear that he is not happy at the Santiago Bernabeu and that he is not living up to the standards of the club. There are also rumours floating around that Atletico Madrid are willing to pay €41 million for him.'
'If I were Zinedine Zidane, I'd take the €41 million and drive him to the airport.'
The former Liverpool defender also went on to say that a team like Real Madrid should not be giving into ridiculous contract demands.
'Let him go to Atletico Madrid. Let him be Diego Simeone's problem. There's no way that I'd let him hold the club to ransom.'
The statements from Carragher come on the back of reports that the Croation midfielder had walked out of contract negotiations with the club.
